Oracle this week unveiled five servers powered by Intel Xeon's renowned E5-2600 series processors. The x86 servers are available in rackable and blade form factors. Carrier-grade versions (Netra) of the systems were also released. In its announcement, Oracle touted the servers for providing “the industry's best x86 platform for Oracle applications.”

Cisco Systems this week unveiled several new servers that are equipped with powerful Intel Xeon E5-2600 processors. The servers are third-generation systems in Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) fabric computing portfolio. The new servers include two racks and one blade. Cisco joins HP, IBM and Dell in releasing new Intel E5-backed systems in recent days.
